GNOME Classic is a feature for users who prefer a more traditional desktop experience. While GNOME Classic is based on modern GNOME technologies, it provides a number of changes to the user interface, such as the Applications and Places menus on the top bar, and a window list at the bottom of the screen.

You can use the Applications menu on the top bar to launch applications.

ウィンドウ一覧

画面最下部のウィンドウ一覧から、開いているウィンドウやアプリケーションにアクセスできます。またウィンドウを最小化したり、元のサイズに戻したりすることも可能です。

The Activities overview is available by clicking the button at the left-hand side of the window list at the bottom.

アクティビティ画面は、Super キーを押して表示することもできます。

ウィンドウ一覧の右側に、現在のワークスペースを示すインジケーターが表示されます。たとえば最初 (先頭) のワークスペースの場合、1 と記されます。また、このインジケーターには、利用可能なワークスペースの総数も示されます。他のワークスペースに切り替えるには、インジケーターを押して、表示されるメニューから使用するワークスペースを選択してください。

GNOME クラシックへの切り替え

GNOME クラシックを利用するには、特定の GNOME Shell 拡張機能をインストールする必要があります。Linux ディストリビューションによっては、関連する拡張機能が提供されていない、あるいはデフォルトではインストールされていないこともあるでしょう。

You need to have the gnome-shell-extensions package installed to make GNOME Classic available.

Install gnome-shell-extensions

 <em>GNOME</em> から <em>GNOME クラシック</em> へ切り替える手順は次のとおりです。

Save any open work, and then log out. Click the system menu on the right side of the top bar and then choose the right option.

ログアウトの確認メッセージが表示されるので、ログアウトを選択します。

ログイン画面で、ユーザーの一覧から自分の名前を選択します。

Click the settings button in the bottom right corner.

Select GNOME Classic from the list.

パスワードをテキストボックスに入力します。

Press Enter.
