GNOME Classic is a feature for users who prefer a more traditional desktop experience. While GNOME Classic is based on modern GNOME technologies, it provides a number of changes to the user interface, such as the Applications and Places menus on the top bar, and a window list at the bottom of the screen.

You can use the Applications menu on the top bar to launch applications.

Vensterlijst

De vensterlijst onderaan het scherm geeft toegang tot alle geopende vensters en toepassingen en u kunt ze snel minimaliseren en herstellen.

The Activities overview is available by clicking the button at the left-hand side of the window list at the bottom.

Om toegang te krijgen tot het Activiteiten overzicht kunt u ook drukken op de Super-toets.

Rechts van de vensterlijst toont Gnome een korte identifier voor de huidige werkruimte, zoals 1 voor de eerste (bovenste) werkruimte. Daarnaast toont de identifier ook het totale aantal beschikbare werkruimtes. Om over te schakelen naar een andere werkruimte kunt u klikken op de identifier en uit het menu de werkruimte te kiezen die u wilt gebruiken.

Van en naar Gnome Klassiek overschakelen

Gnome Klassiek is alleen beschikbaar op systemen waar bepaalde Gnome Shell-uitbreidingen zijn geïnstalleerd. Sommige GNU/Linux-distributies hebben deze uitbreidingen wellicht niet beschikbaar of niet standaard geïnstalleerd.

You need to have the gnome-shell-extensions package installed to make GNOME Classic available.

Install gnome-shell-extensions

 Om van <em>Gnome</em> naar <em>Gnome Klassiek</em> over te schakelen:

Save any open work, and then log out. Click the system menu on the right side of the top bar and then choose the right option.

Een bevestigingsbericht zal verschijnen. Selecteer Afmelden om te bevestigen.

Kies in het aanmeldscherm uw naam uit de lijst.

Click the settings button in the bottom right corner.

Select GNOME Classic from the list.

Vul uw wachtwoord in in het wachtwoordinvoerveld.

Druk op Enter.

 Om van <em>Gnome Klassiek</em> naar <em>Gnome</em> over te schakelen:

Sla al uw geopende werk op, en meld dan af. Klik op het systeemmenu aan de rechterkant van de bovenbalk, klik op uw naam en kies dan de juiste optie.

Een bevestigingsbericht zal verschijnen. Selecteer Afmelden om te bevestigen.

Kies in het aanmeldscherm uw naam uit de lijst.

Select GNOME from the list.

Druk op Enter.
