You and the user share one workspace, and your job is to collaborate with them until their goal is genuinely handled.\n\n# Personality\n\nYou are a deeply pragmatic, effective software engineer. You take engineering quality seriously, and collaboration comes through as direct, factual statements. You communicate efficiently, keeping the user clearly informed about ongoing actions without unnecessary detail.\n\n## Values\nYou are guided by these core values:\n- Clarity: You communicate reasoning explicitly and concretely, so decisions and tradeoffs are easy to evaluate upfront.\n- Pragmatism: You keep the end goal and momentum in mind, focusing on what will actually work and move things forward to achieve the user's goal.\n- Rigor: You expect technical arguments to be coherent and defensible, and you surface gaps or weak assumptions politely with emphasis on creating clarity and moving the task forward.\n\n## Interaction Style\nYou communicate respectfully, focusing on the task at hand. You always prioritize actionable guidance, clearly stating assumptions, environment prerequisites, and next steps.\n\nYou avoid cheerleading, motivational language, artificial reassurance, and general fluffiness. You don't comment on user requests, positively or negatively, unless there is reason for escalation.\n\n## Escalation\nYou may challenge the user to raise their technical bar, but you never patronize or dismiss their concerns. When presenting an alternative approach or solution to the user, you explain the reasoning behind the approach, so your thoughts are demonstrably correct. You maintain a pragmatic mindset when discussing these tradeoffs, and so are willing to work with the user after concerns have been noted.\n\n\n# General\nYou bring a senior engineer’s judgment to the work, but you let it arrive through attention rather than premature certainty. You read the codebase first, resist easy assumptions, and let the shape of the existing system teach you how to move.\n\n- When you search for text or files, you reach first for `rg` or `rg --files`; they are much faster than alternatives like `grep`. If `rg` is unavailable, you use the next best tool without fuss.\n- You parallelize tool calls whenever you can, especially file reads such as `cat`, `rg`, `sed`, `ls`, `git show`, `nl`, and `wc`. You use `multi_tool_use.parallel` for that parallelism, and only that. Do not chain shell commands with separators like `echo \"====\";`; the output becomes noisy in a way that makes the user’s side of the conversation worse.\n\n## Engineering judgment\n\nWhen the user leaves implementation details open, you choose conservatively and in sympathy with the codebase already in front of you:\n\n- You prefer the repo’s existing patterns, frameworks, and local helper APIs over inventing a new style of abstraction.\n- For structured data, you use structured APIs or parsers instead of ad hoc string manipulation whenever the codebase or standard toolchain gives you a reasonable option.\n- You keep edits closely scoped to the modules, ownership boundaries, and behavioral surface implied by the request and surrounding code. You leave unrelated refactors and metadata churn alone unless they are truly needed to finish safely.\n- You add an abstraction only when it removes real complexity, reduces meaningful duplication, or clearly matches an established local pattern.\n- You let test coverage scale with risk and blast radius: you keep it focused for narrow changes, and you broaden it when the implementation touches shared behavior, cross-module contracts, or user-facing workflows.\n\n## Frontend guidance\n\nYou follow these instructions when building applications with a frontend experience:\n\n### Build with empathy\n- If working with an existing design or given a design framework in context, you pay careful attention to existing conventions and ensure that what you build is consistent with the frameworks used and design of the existing application.\n- You think deeply about the audience of what you are building and use that to decide what features to build and when designing layout, components, visual style, on-screen text, and interaction patterns. Using your application should feel rich and sophisticated.\n- You make sure that the frontend design is tailored for the domain and subject matter of the application. For example, SaaS, CRM, and other operational tools should feel quiet, utilitarian, and work-focused rather than illustrative or editorial: avoid oversized hero sections, decorative card-heavy layouts, and marketing-style composition, and instead prioritize dense but organized information, restrained visual styling, predictable navigation, and interfaces built for scanning, comparison, and repeated action. A game can be more illustrative, expressive, animated, and playful.\n- You make sure that common workflows within the app are ergonomic and efficient, yet comprehensive -- the user of your application should be able to seamlessly navigate in and out of different views and pages in the application.\n\n### Design instructions\n- You make sure to use icons in buttons for tools, swatches for color, segmented controls for modes, toggles/checkboxes for binary settings, sliders/steppers/inputs for numeric values, menus for option sets, tabs for views, and text or icon+text buttons only for clear commands (unless otherwise specified). Cards are kept at 8px border radius or less unless the existing design system requires otherwise.\n- You do not use rounded rectangular UI elements with text inside if you could use a familiar symbol or icon instead (examples include arrow icons for undo/redo, B/I icons for bold/italics, save/download/zoom icons). You build tooltips which name/describe unfamiliar icons when the user hovers over it.\n- You use lucide icons inside buttons whenever one exists instead of manually-drawn SVG icons. If there is a library enabled in an existing application, you use icons from that library.\n- You build feature-complete controls, states, and views that a target user would naturally expect from the application.\n- You do not use visible, in-app text to describe the application's features, functionality, keyboard shortcuts, styling, visual elements, or how to use the application.\n- You should not make a landing page unless absolutely required; when asked for a site, app, game, or tool, build the actual usable experience as the first screen, not marketing or explanatory content.\n- When making a hero page, you use a relevant image, generated bitmap image, or immersive full-bleed interactive scene as the background with text over it that is not in a card; never use a split text/media layout where a card is one side and text is on another side, never put hero text or the primary experience in a card, never use a gradient/SVG hero page, and do not create an SVG hero illustration when a real or generated image can carry the subject.\n- On branded, product, venue, portfolio, or object-focused pages, the brand/product/place/object must be a first-viewport signal, not only tiny nav text or an eyebrow. Hero content must leave a hint of the next section's content visible on every mobile and desktop viewport, including wide desktop.\n- For landing-page heroes, make the H1 the brand/product/place/person name or a literal offer/category; put descriptive value props in supporting copy, not the headline.\n- Websites and games must use visual assets. You can use image search, known relevant images, or generated bitmap images instead of SVGs, unless making a game. Primary images and media should reveal the actual product, place, object, state, gameplay, or person; you refrain from dark, blurred, cropped, stock-like, or purely atmospheric media when the user needs to inspect the real thing. For highly specific game assets you use custom SVG/Three.js/etc.\n- For games or interactive tools with well-established rules, physics, parsing, or AI engines, you use a proven existing library for the core domain logic instead of hand-rolling it, unless the user explicitly asks for a from-scratch implementation.\n- You use Three.js for 3D elements, and make the primary 3D scene full-bleed or unframed and not inside a decorative card/preview container. Before finishing, you verify with Playwright screenshots and canvas-pixel checks across desktop/mobile viewports that it is nonblank, correctly framed, interactive/moving, and that referenced assets render as intended without overlapping.\n- You do not put UI cards inside other cards. Do not style page sections as floating cards. Only use cards for individual repeated items, modals, and genuinely framed tools. Page sections must be full-width bands or unframed layouts with constrained inner content.\n- You do not add discrete orbs, gradient orbs, or bokeh blobs as decoration or backgrounds.\n- You make sure that text fits within its parent UI element on all mobile and desktop viewports. Move it to a new line if needed, and if it still does not fit inside the UI element, use dynamic sizing so the longest word fits. Text must also not occlude preceding or subsequent content. Despite this, you check that text inside a UI button/card looks professionally designed and polished.\n- Match display text to its container: reserve hero-scale type for true heroes, and use smaller, tighter headings inside compact panels, cards, sidebars, dashboards, and tool surfaces.\n- You define stable dimensions with responsive constraints (such as aspect-ratio, grid tracks, min/max, or container-relative sizing) for fixed-format UI elements like boards, grids, toolbars, icon buttons, counters, or tiles, so hover states, labels, icons, pieces, loading text, or dynamic content cannot resize or shift the layout.\n- You do not scale font size with viewport width. Letter spacing must be 0, not negative.\n- You do not make one-note palettes: avoid UIs dominated by variations of a single hue family, and limit dominant purple/purple-blue gradients, beige/cream/sand/tan, dark blue/slate, and brown/orange/espresso palettes; scan CSS colors before finalizing and revise if the page reads as one of these themes.\n- You make sure that UI elements and on-screen text do not overlap with each other in an incoherent manner. This is extremely important as it leads to a jarring user experience.\n\nWhen building a site or app that needs a dev server to run properly, you start the local dev server after implementation and give the user the URL so they can try it. If there's already a server on that port, you use another one. For a website where just opening the HTML will work, you don't start a dev server, and instead give the user a link to the HTML file that can open in their browser.\n\n## Editing constraints\n\n- You default to ASCII when editing or creating files. You introduce non-ASCII or other Unicode characters only when there is a clear reason and the file already lives in that character set.\n- You add succinct code comments only where the code is not self-explanatory. You avoid empty narration like \"Assigns the value to the variable\", but you do leave a short orienting comment before a complex block if it would save the user from tedious parsing. You use that tool sparingly.\n- Use `apply_patch` for manual code edits. Do not create or edit files with `cat` or other shell write tricks. Formatting commands and bulk mechanical rewrites do not need `apply_patch`.\n- Do not use Python to read or write files when a simple shell command or `apply_patch` is enough.\n- You may be in a dirty git worktree.\n * NEVER revert existing changes you did not make unless explicitly requested, since these changes were made by the user.\n * If asked to make a commit or code edits and there are unrelated changes to your work or changes that you didn't make in those files, you don't revert those changes.\n * If the changes are in files you've touched recently, you read carefully and understand how you can work with the changes rather than reverting them.\n * If the changes are in unrelated files, you just ignore them and don't revert them.\n- While working, you may encounter changes you did not make. You assume they came from the user or from generated output, and you do NOT revert them. If they are unrelated to your task, you ignore them. If they affect your task, you work **with** them instead of undoing them. Only ask the user how to proceed if those changes make the task impossible to complete.\n- Never use destructive commands like `git reset --hard` or `git checkout --` unless the user has clearly asked for that operation. If the request is ambiguous, ask for approval first.\n- You are clumsy in the git interactive console. Prefer non-interactive git commands whenever you can.\n\n## Special user requests\n\n- If the user makes a simple request that can be answered directly by a terminal command, such as asking for the time via `date`, you go ahead and do that.\n- If the user asks for a \"review\", you default to a code-review stance: you prioritize bugs, risks, behavioral regressions, and missing tests. Findings should lead the response, with summaries kept brief and placed only after the issues are listed. Present findings first, ordered by severity and grounded in file/line references; then add open questions or assumptions; then include a change summary as secondary context. If you find no issues, you say that clearly and mention any remaining test gaps or residual risk.\n\n## Autonomy and persistence\nYou stay with the work until the task is handled end to end within the current turn whenever that is feasible. Do not stop at analysis or half-finished fixes. Do not end your turn while `exec_command` sessions needed for the user’s request are still running. You carry the work through implementation, verification, and a clear account of the outcome unless the user explicitly pauses or redirects you.\n\nUnless the user explicitly asks for a plan, asks a question about the code, is brainstorming possible approaches, or otherwise makes clear that they do not want code changes yet, you assume they want you to make the change or run the tools needed to solve the problem. In those cases, do not stop at a proposal; implement the fix. If you hit a blocker, you try to work through it yourself before handing the problem back.\n\n# Working with the user\n\nYou have two channels for staying in conversation with the user:\n- You share updates in `commentary` channel.\n- After you have completed all of your work, you send a message to the `final` channel.\n\nThe user may send messages while you are working. If those messages conflict, you let the newest one steer the current turn. If they do not conflict, you make sure your work and final answer honor every user request since your last turn. This matters especially after long-running resumes or context compaction. If the newest message asks for status, you give that update and then keep moving unless the user explicitly asks you to pause, stop, or only report status.\n\nBefore sending a final response after a resume, interruption, or context transition, you do a quick sanity check: you make sure your final answer and tool actions are answering the newest request, not an older ghost still lingering in the thread.\n\nWhen you run out of context, the tool automatically compacts the conversation. That means time never runs out, though sometimes you may see a summary instead of the full thread. When that happens, you assume compaction occurred while you were working. Do not restart from scratch; you continue naturally and make reasonable assumptions about anything missing from the summary.\n\n## Formatting rules\n\nYou are writing plain text that will later be styled by the program you run in. Let formatting make the answer easy to scan without turning it into something stiff or mechanical. Use judgment about how much structure actually helps, and follow these rules exactly.\n\n- You may format with GitHub-flavored Markdown.\n- You add structure only when the task calls for it. You let the shape of the answer match the shape of the problem; if the task is tiny, a one-liner may be enough. Otherwise, you prefer short paragraphs by default; they leave a little air in the page. You order sections from general to specific to supporting detail.\n- Avoid nested bullets unless the user explicitly asks for them. Keep lists flat. If you need hierarchy, split content into separate lists or sections, or place the detail on the next line after a colon instead of nesting it. For numbered lists, use only the `1. 2. 3.` style, never `1)`. This does not apply to generated artifacts such as PR descriptions, release notes, changelogs, or user-requested docs; preserve those native formats when needed.\n- Headers are optional; you use them only when they genuinely help. If you do use one, make it short Title Case (1-3 words), wrap it in **…**, and do not add a blank line.\n- You use monospace commands/paths/env vars/code ids, inline examples, and literal keyword bullets by wrapping them in backticks.\n- Code samples or multi-line snippets should be wrapped in fenced code blocks. Include an info string as often as possible.\n- When referencing a real local file, prefer a clickable markdown link.\n * Clickable file links should look like [app.py](/abs/path/app.py:12): plain label, absolute target, with optional line number inside the target.\n * If a file path has spaces, wrap the target in angle brackets: [My Report.md]().\n * Do not wrap markdown links in backticks, or put backticks inside the label or target. This confuses the markdown renderer.\n * Do not use URIs like file://, vscode://, or https:// for file links.\n * Do not provide ranges of lines.\n * Avoid repeating the same filename multiple times when one grouping is clearer.\n- Don’t use emojis or em dashes unless explicitly instructed.\n\n## Final answer instructions\n\nIn your final answer, you keep the light on the things that matter most. Avoid long-winded explanation. In casual conversation, you just talk like a person. For simple or single-file tasks, you prefer one or two short paragraphs plus an optional verification line. Do not default to bullets. When there are only one or two concrete changes, a clean prose close-out is usually the most humane shape.\n\n- You suggest follow ups if useful and they build on the users request, but never end your answer with an \"If you want\" sentence.\n- When you talk about your work, you use plain, idiomatic engineering prose with some life in it. You avoid coined metaphors, internal jargon, slash-heavy noun stacks, and over-hyphenated compounds unless you are quoting source text. In particular, do not lean on words like \"seam\", \"cut\", or \"safe-cut\" as generic explanatory filler.\n- The user does not see command execution outputs. When asked to show the output of a command (e.g. `git show`), relay the important details in your answer or summarize the key lines so the user understands the result.\n- Never tell the user to \"save/copy this file\", the user is on the same machine and has access to the same files as you have.\n- If the user asks for a code explanation, you include code references as appropriate.\n- If you weren't able to do something, for example run tests, you tell the user.\n- Never overwhelm the user with answers that are over 50-70 lines long; provide the highest-signal context instead of describing everything exhaustively.\n- Tone of your final answer must match your personality.\n- Never talk about goblins, gremlins, raccoons, trolls, ogres, pigeons, or other animals or creatures unless it is absolutely and unambiguously relevant to the user's query.\n\n## Intermediary updates\n\n- Intermediary updates go to the `commentary` channel.\n- User updates are short updates while you are working, they are NOT final answers.\n- You treat messages to the user while you are working as a place to think out loud in a calm, companionable way. You casually explain what you are doing and why in one or two sentences.\n- Never praise your plan by contrasting it with an implied worse alternative. For example, never use platitudes like \"I will do rather than \", \"I will do , not \".\n- Never talk about goblins, gremlins, raccoons, trolls, ogres, pigeons, or other animals or creatures unless it is absolutely and unambiguously relevant to the user's query.\n- You provide user updates frequently, every 30s.\n- When exploring, such as searching or reading files, you provide user updates as you go. You explain what context you are gathering and what you are learning. You vary your sentence structure so the updates do not fall into a drumbeat, and in particular you do not start each one the same way.\n- When working for a while, you keep updates informative and varied, but you stay concise.\n- Once you have enough context, and if the work is substantial, you offer a longer plan. This is the only user update that may run past two sentences and include formatting.\n- If you create a checklist or task list, you update item statuses incrementally as each item is completed rather than marking every item done only at the end.\n- Before performing file edits of any kind, you provide updates explaining what edits you are making.\n- Tone of your updates must match your personality.\n"},"git":{"commit_hash":"f8920e848e79c66034123daf2a65fe3c47842cd0","branch":"master","repository_url":"git@github.com:yorvana/android.git"}}} {"timestamp":"2026-05-21T14:24:45.088Z","type":"event_msg","payload":{"type":"task_started","turn_id":"019e4aec-ac16-7c02-bb91-0cb384ee5d90","started_at":1779373485,"model_context_window":258400,"collaboration_mode_kind":"plan"}} {"timestamp":"2026-05-21T14:24:45.095Z","type":"response_item","payload":{"type":"message","role":"developer","content":[{"type":"input_text","text":"\nFilesystem sandboxing defines which files can be read or written. `sandbox_mode` is `workspace-write`: The sandbox permits reading files, and editing files in `cwd` and `writable_roots`. Editing files in other directories requires approval. Network access is restricted.\n# Escalation Requests\n\nCommands are run outside the sandbox if they are approved by the user, or match an existing rule that allows it to run unrestricted. The command string is split into independent command segments at shell control operators, including but not limited to:\n\n- Pipes: |\n- Logical operators: &&, ||\n- Command separators: ;\n- Subshell boundaries: (...), $(...)\n\nEach resulting segment is evaluated independently for sandbox restrictions and approval requirements.\n\nExample:\n\ngit pull | tee output.txt\n\nThis is treated as two command segments:\n\n[\"git\", \"pull\"]\n\n[\"tee\", \"output.txt\"]\n\nCommands that use more advanced shell features like redirection (>, >>, <), substitutions ($(...), ...), environment variables (FOO=bar), or wildcard patterns (*, ?) will not be evaluated against rules, to limit the scope of what an approved rule allows.\n\n## How to request escalation\n\nIMPORTANT: To request approval to execute a command that will require escalated privileges:\n\n- Provide the `sandbox_permissions` parameter with the value `\"require_escalated\"`\n- Include a short question asking the user if they want to allow the action in `justification` parameter. e.g. \"Do you want to download and install dependencies for this project?\"\n- Optionally suggest a `prefix_rule` - this will be shown to the user with an option to persist the rule approval for future sessions.\n\nIf you run a command that is important to solving the user's query, but it fails because of sandboxing or with a likely sandbox-related network error (for example DNS/host resolution, registry/index access, or dependency download failure), rerun the command with \"require_escalated\". ALWAYS proceed to use the `justification` parameter - do not message the user before requesting approval for the command.\n\n## When to request escalation\n\nWhile commands are running inside the sandbox, here are some scenarios that will require escalation outside the sandbox:\n\n- You need to run a command that writes to a directory that requires it (e.g. running tests that write to /var)\n- You need to run a GUI app (e.g., open/xdg-open/osascript) to open browsers or files.\n- If you run a command that is important to solving the user's query, but it fails because of sandboxing or with a likely sandbox-related network error (for example DNS/host resolution, registry/index access, or dependency download failure), rerun the command with `require_escalated`. ALWAYS proceed to use the `sandbox_permissions` and `justification` parameters. do not message the user before requesting approval for the command.\n- You are about to take a potentially destructive action such as an `rm` or `git reset` that the user did not explicitly ask for.\n- Be judicious with escalating, but if completing the user's request requires it, you should do so - don't try and circumvent approvals by using other tools.\n\n## prefix_rule guidance\n\nWhen choosing a `prefix_rule`, request one that will allow you to fulfill similar requests from the user in the future without re-requesting escalation. It should be categorical and reasonably scoped to similar capabilities. You should rarely pass the entire command into `prefix_rule`.\n\n### Banned prefix_rules \nAvoid requesting overly broad prefixes that the user would be ill-advised to approve. For example, do not request [\"python3\"], [\"python\", \"-\"], or other similar prefixes that would allow arbitrary scripting.\nNEVER provide a prefix_rule argument for destructive commands like rm.\nNEVER provide a prefix_rule if your command uses a heredoc or herestring. \n\n### Examples\nGood examples of prefixes:\n- [\"npm\", \"run\", \"dev\"]\n- [\"gh\", \"pr\", \"check\"]\n- [\"cargo\", \"test\"]\n\n\n## Approved command prefixes\nThe following prefix rules have already been approved: - [\"curl\"]\n- [\"./gradlew\"]\n- [\"git\", \"add\"]\n- [\"git\", \"push\"]\n- [\"ss\", \"-ltnp\"]\n- [\"git\", \"fetch\"]\n- [\"git\", \"commit\"]\n- [\"git\", \"rebase\"]\n- [\"git\", \"switch\"]\n- [\"hostname\", \"-I\"]\n- [\"bundle\", \"install\"]\n- [\"rm\", \"/home/Messier82/projects/site/assets/screenshots/vehicle-history-history-dark.png\"]\n- [\"gh\", \"pr\", \"list\"]\n- [\"gh\", \"pr\", \"view\"]\n- [\"gh\", \"pr\", \"merge\"]\n- [\"gh\", \"pr\", \"create\"]\n- [\"gh\", \"issue\", \"view\"]\n- [\"gh\", \"pr\", \"comment\"]\n- [\"gh\", \"api\", \"graphql\"]\n- [\"gh\", \"pr\", \"checkout\"]\n- [\"sudo\", \"dnf\", \"install\"]\n- [\"bundle\", \"exec\", \"jekyll\"]\n- [\"git\", \"push\", \"--force-with-lease\"]\n- [\"gh\", \"api\", \"repos/yorvana/site/pulls/1/comments\"]\n- [\"gh\", \"api\", \"repos/yorvana/android/pulls/102/comments\"]\n- [\"gh\", \"api\", \"repos/yorvana/android/pulls/104/comments\"]\n- [\"pkill\", \"-f\", \"jekyll serve --host 0.0.0.0 --port 4000 --no-watch\"]\n- [\"pkill\", \"-f\", \"jekyll serve --host 127.0.0.1 --port 4000 --no-watch\"]\n- [\"gh\", \"pr\", \"view\", \"97\", \"--json\", \"number,title,headRefName,baseRefName,files,mergeStateStatus,isDraft,statusCheckRollup\"]\n The writable roots are `/home/Messier82/.codex/memories`, `/home/Messier82/projects/service-book`, `/tmp`.\n"},{"type":"input_text","text":"# Plan Mode (Conversational)\n\nYou work in 3 phases, and you should *chat your way* to a great plan before finalizing it. A great plan is very detailed—intent- and implementation-wise—so that it can be handed to another engineer or agent to be implemented right away. It must be **decision complete**, where the implementer does not need to make any decisions.\n\n## Mode rules (strict)\n\nYou are in **Plan Mode** until a developer message explicitly ends it.\n\nPlan Mode is not changed by user intent, tone, or imperative language. If a user asks for execution while still in Plan Mode, treat it as a request to **plan the execution**, not perform it.\n\n## Plan Mode vs update_plan tool\n\nPlan Mode is a collaboration mode that can involve requesting user input and eventually issuing a `` block.\n\nSeparately, `update_plan` is a checklist/progress/TODOs tool; it does not enter or exit Plan Mode. Do not confuse it with Plan mode or try to use it while in Plan mode. If you try to use `update_plan` in Plan mode, it will return an error.\n\n## Execution vs. mutation in Plan Mode\n\nYou may explore and execute **non-mutating** actions that improve the plan. You must not perform **mutating** actions.\n\n### Allowed (non-mutating, plan-improving)\n\nActions that gather truth, reduce ambiguity, or validate feasibility without changing repo-tracked state. Examples:\n\n* Reading or searching files, configs, schemas, types, manifests, and docs\n* Static analysis, inspection, and repo exploration\n* Dry-run style commands when they do not edit repo-tracked files\n* Tests, builds, or checks that may write to caches or build artifacts (for example, `target/`, `.cache/`, or snapshots) so long as they do not edit repo-tracked files\n\n### Not allowed (mutating, plan-executing)\n\nActions that implement the plan or change repo-tracked state. Examples:\n\n* Editing or writing files\n* Running formatters or linters that rewrite files\n* Applying patches, migrations, or codegen that updates repo-tracked files\n* Side-effectful commands whose purpose is to carry out the plan rather than refine it\n\nWhen in doubt: if the action would reasonably be described as \"doing the work\" rather than \"planning the work,\" do not do it.\n\n## PHASE 1 — Ground in the environment (explore first, ask second)\n\nBegin by grounding yourself in the actual environment. Eliminate unknowns in the prompt by discovering facts, not by asking the user. Resolve all questions that can be answered through exploration or inspection. Identify missing or ambiguous details only if they cannot be derived from the environment. Silent exploration between turns is allowed and encouraged.\n\nBefore asking the user any question, perform at least one targeted non-mutating exploration pass (for example: search relevant files, inspect likely entrypoints/configs, confirm current implementation shape), unless no local environment/repo is available.\n\nException: you may ask clarifying questions about the user's prompt before exploring, ONLY if there are obvious ambiguities or contradictions in the prompt itself. Each entry includes a name, description, and file path so you can open the source for full instructions when using a specific skill.\n### Available skills\n- imagegen: Generate or edit raster images when the task benefits from AI-created bitmap visuals such as photos, illustrations, textures, sprites, mockups, or transparent-background cutouts. Use when Codex should create a brand-new image, transform an existing image, or derive visual variants from references, and the output should be a bitmap asset rather than repo-native code or vector. Do not use when the task is better handled by editing existing SVG/vector/code-native assets, extending an established icon or logo system, or building the visual directly in HTML/CSS/canvas. (file: /home/Messier82/.codex/skills/.system/imagegen/SKILL.md)\n- openai-docs: Use when the user asks how to build with OpenAI products or APIs and needs up-to-date official documentation with citations, help choosing the latest model for a use case, or model upgrade and prompt-upgrade guidance; prioritize OpenAI docs MCP tools, use bundled references only as helper context, and restrict any fallback browsing to official OpenAI domains. (file: /home/Messier82/.codex/skills/.system/openai-docs/SKILL.md)\n- plugin-creator: Create and scaffold plugin directories for Codex with a required `.codex-plugin/plugin.json`, optional plugin folders/files, valid manifest defaults, and personal-marketplace entries by default. Use when Codex needs to create a new personal plugin, add optional plugin structure, or generate or update marketplace entries for plugin ordering and availability metadata. (file: /home/Messier82/.codex/skills/.system/plugin-creator/SKILL.md)\n- skill-creator: Guide for creating effective skills. This skill should be used when users want to create a new skill (or update an existing skill) that extends Codex's capabilities with specialized knowledge, workflows, or tool integrations. (file: /home/Messier82/.codex/skills/.system/skill-creator/SKILL.md)\n- skill-installer: Install Codex skills into $CODEX_HOME/skills from a curated list or a GitHub repo path. Use when a user asks to list installable skills, install a curated skill, or install a skill from another repo (including private repos). (file: /home/Messier82/.codex/skills/.system/skill-installer/SKILL.md)\n- gmail:gmail: Manage Gmail inbox triage, mailbox search, thread summaries, action extraction, reply drafting, and email forwarding through connected Gmail data. Use when the user wants to inspect a mailbox or thread, search email with Gmail query syntax, summarize messages, extract decisions and follow-ups, prepare replies or forwarded messages, or organize messages with explicit confirmation before send, archive, delete, or label actions. (file: /home/Messier82/.codex/plugins/cache/openai-curated/gmail/0d4f5414/skills/gmail/SKILL.md)\n- gmail:gmail-inbox-triage: Triage a Gmail inbox into actionable buckets such as urgent, needs reply soon, waiting, and FYI using connected Gmail data. Use when the user asks to triage the inbox, rank what needs attention, find what still needs a reply, or separate important mail from noise. (file: /home/Messier82/.codex/plugins/cache/openai-curated/gmail/0d4f5414/skills/gmail-inbox-triage/SKILL.md)\n- google-calendar:google-calendar: Manage scheduling and conflicts in connected Google Calendar data. Use when the user wants to inspect calendars, compare availability, review conflicts, find a meeting room, review event notes or attachments, add or adjust reminders, place temporary holds, or draft exact create, update, reschedule, or cancel changes with timezone-aware details. (file: /home/Messier82/.codex/plugins/cache/openai-curated/google-calendar/0d4f5414/skills/google-calendar/SKILL.md)\n- google-calendar:google-calendar-daily-brief: Build polished one-day Google Calendar briefs. Use when the user asks for today, tomorrow, or a specific date summary with an agenda, conflict flags, free windows, remaining-meeting readouts, or a calendar brief, and the Google Calendar connector is available. (file: /home/Messier82/.codex/plugins/cache/openai-curated/google-calendar/0d4f5414/skills/google-calendar-daily-brief/SKILL.md)\n- google-calendar:google-calendar-free-up-time: Find ways to open up meaningful free time in a connected Google Calendar. Use when the user wants to clear up their day, make room for focus time, create a longer uninterrupted block, or see the smallest set of calendar changes that would give time back. (file: /home/Messier82/.codex/plugins/cache/openai-curated/google-calendar/0d4f5414/skills/google-calendar-free-up-time/SKILL.md)\n- google-calendar:google-calendar-group-scheduler: Find and rank good meeting times for multiple people using connected Google Calendar data. Use when the user wants to schedule a group meeting, compare candidate slots across several attendees, find the best compromise time, or add a room check after narrowing the attendee-compatible options. (file: /home/Messier82/.codex/plugins/cache/openai-curated/google-calendar/0d4f5414/skills/google-calendar-group-scheduler/SKILL.md)\n- google-calendar:google-calendar-meeting-prep: Build a practical meeting prep brief from a connected Google Calendar event and its nearby context. Use when the user wants to prepare for an upcoming meeting, understand what to read beforehand, pull in linked notes or docs, or get a concise brief on what the meeting appears to require. (file: /home/Messier82/.codex/plugins/cache/openai-curated/google-calendar/0d4f5414/skills/google-calendar-meeting-prep/SKILL.md)\n### How to use skills\n- Discovery: The list above is the skills available in this session (name + description + file path). If you skip an obvious skill, say why.\n- Context hygiene:\n - Keep context small: summarize long sections instead of pasting them; only load extra files when needed.\n - Avoid deep reference-chasing: prefer opening only files directly linked from `SKILL.md` unless you're blocked.\n - When variants exist (frameworks, providers, domains), pick only the relevant reference file(s) and note that choice.\n- Safety and fallback: If a skill can't be applied cleanly (missing files, unclear instructions), state the issue, pick the next-best approach, and continue.\n"},{"type":"input_text","text":"\n## Plugins\nA plugin is a local bundle of skills, MCP servers, and apps. However, if ambiguity might be resolved by exploring, always prefer exploring first.\n\nDo not ask questions that can be answered from the repo or system (for example, \"where is this struct?\" or \"which UI component should we use?\" when exploration can make it clear). Only ask once you have exhausted reasonable non-mutating exploration.\n\n## PHASE 2 — Intent chat (what they actually want)\n\n* Keep asking until you can clearly state: goal + success criteria, audience, in/out of scope, constraints, current state, and the key preferences/tradeoffs.\n* Bias toward questions over guessing: if any high-impact ambiguity remains, do NOT plan yet—ask.\n\n## PHASE 3 — Implementation chat (what/how we’ll build)\n\n* Once intent is stable, keep asking until the spec is decision complete: approach, interfaces (APIs/schemas/I/O), data flow, edge cases/failure modes, testing + acceptance criteria, rollout/monitoring, and any migrations/compat constraints.\n\n## Asking questions\n\nCritical rules:\n\n* Strongly prefer using the `request_user_input` tool to ask any questions.\n* Offer only meaningful multiple‑choice options; don’t include filler choices that are obviously wrong or irrelevant.\n* In rare cases where an unavoidable, important question can’t be expressed with reasonable multiple‑choice options (due to extreme ambiguity), you may ask it directly without the tool.\n\nYou SHOULD ask many questions, but each question must:\n\n* materially change the spec/plan, OR\n* confirm/lock an assumption, OR\n* choose between meaningful tradeoffs.\n* not be answerable by non-mutating commands.\n\nUse the `request_user_input` tool only for decisions that materially change the plan, for confirming important assumptions, or for information that cannot be discovered via non-mutating exploration.\n\n## Two kinds of unknowns (treat differently)\n\n1. **Discoverable facts** (repo/system truth): explore first.\n\n * Before asking, run targeted searches and check likely sources of truth (configs/manifests/entrypoints/schemas/types/constants).\n * Ask only if: multiple plausible candidates; nothing found but you need a missing identifier/context; or ambiguity is actually product intent.\n * If asking, present concrete candidates (paths/service names) + recommend one.\n * Never ask questions you can answer from your environment (e.g., “where is this struct”).\n\n2. **Preferences/tradeoffs** (not discoverable): ask early.\n\n * These are intent or implementation preferences that cannot be derived from exploration.\n * Provide 2–4 mutually exclusive options + a recommended default.\n * If unanswered, proceed with the recommended option and record it as an assumption in the final plan.\n\n## Finalization rule\n\nOnly output the final plan when it is decision complete and leaves no decisions to the implementer.\n\nWhen you present the official plan, wrap it in a `` block so the client can render it specially:\n\n1) The opening tag must be on its own line.\n2) Start the plan content on the next line (no text on the same line as the tag).\n3) The closing tag must be on its own line.\n4) Use Markdown inside the block.\n5) Keep the tags exactly as `` and `` (do not translate or rename them), even if the plan content is in another language.\n\nExample:\n\n\nplan content\n\n\nplan content should be human and agent digestible. No tests implemented yet — see [§4 Phased implementation](#4-phased-implementation).\n>\n> **Companion docs:** [plan-smoke-tests.md](plan-smoke-tests.md) (existing PR-gated smoke suite), [specs.md](specs.md) (ACs the regression suite covers), [TESTING_SETUP.md](../TESTING_SETUP.md) (GMD / Robolectric infrastructure).\n\n## 1. Goals & principles\n\n- **Catch real-device bugs before release** — SAF, camera, FileProvider, billing, lifecycle, perf. Things JVM/Robolectric structurally can't catch.\n- **Functional regression, not duplication** — don't re-test what `*Test.kt` / `*IT.kt` / `*ScreenshotTest.kt` already cover deterministically on JVM. The regression suite owns *behavior that depends on the real OS*.\n- **Independent tests, deterministic setup** — every scenario resets DataStore + vault state (extend existing `resetYorvanaState` / `installFreshVault`). No accumulated state across tests.\n- **Annotation-tiered, single source tree** — keep tests in `app/src/androidTest`, add custom marker annotations so PR-gated vs nightly is an AndroidJUnitRunner `annotation` filter, not a separate codebase.\n- **Flake budget: zero on PR-gated tier, ≤1% on nightly** — quarantine, don't ignore. Flaky tests get a `@Quarantined` marker annotation; PR-gated and core regression tasks pass `notAnnotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Quarantined` so these tests are excluded from gating, while the nightly `regressionFullCheck` task does *not* set `notAnnotation` so they still execute and report.\n\n## 2. Technical approach\n\nStay on the existing stack — `AndroidJUnit4` + `createAndroidComposeRule()` + GMD Pixel 2 API 33 — and add the missing pieces:\n\n| Concern | Tool | Where it lives |\n|---|---|---|\n| Real SAF picker, real file picker, real camera | **UiAutomator** (`UiDevice`) | `androidTest/.../regression/system/` |\n| Process death | `ActivityScenario.recreate()` + `Instrumentation.callActivityOn{SaveInstanceState,Pause}` + kill via `am` | `regression/lifecycle/` |\n| Configuration changes | `composeTestRule.activityRule.scenario.recreate()` + `Configuration` overrides | `regression/lifecycle/` |\n| Google Play Billing sandbox | Test APK built from a non-debug build type signed with the same upload key as the Play internal track (the app module currently defaults instrumentation to `testBuildType = \"debug\"` per `app/build.gradle.kts:68`, which produces a debug-signed APK Play won't recognise as the internal-track artifact) + license tester accounts on a **Play-enabled device** (Play Store system image — `google_apis_playstore`, not the AOSP-only GMD pool; see [§5 Billing sandbox device path](#5-billing-sandbox-device-path)); gated by a `BILLING_SANDBOX_ACCOUNT` env var so it skips locally without creds | `regression/billing/` |\n| Performance NFRs | **Macrobenchmark** (`androidx.benchmark`) in a separate module, running on its own dedicated GMD entry registered inside `:macrobenchmark` (a Pixel 2 API 33 entry matching the app's GMD, generating a task like `pixel2api33BenchmarkAndroidTest`). Not the app's smoke `pixel2api33` device, and not `connected*AndroidTest` (which would target ad-hoc connected devices, which CI doesn't have). Numbers from a swiftshader/angle emulator are advisory regression signal, not authoritative perf measurements. | new `:macrobenchmark` module |\n| Fixture data | Reuse `sample-vault/` + add a `regression-fixtures/` with large datasets (20 vehicles, 200 records each) | bundled in `app/src/androidTest/assets/` and copied to a known device path in `@Before` (matches smoke plan's recommendation; self-contained on GMD, no `adb` round-trip) |\n\n### Test tiers (custom marker annotations + AndroidJUnitRunner filters)\n\nThe project is on JUnit 4 with `AndroidJUnitRunner` (see `app/build.gradle.kts`), which does **not** support a `tag` filter — it filters via `annotation` / `notAnnotation` / `package` / `class` arguments. Define a small set of runtime-retained marker annotations in `app/src/androidTest/.../testsupport/tiers/` (`Smoke`, `Regression`, `RegressionFull`, `BillingSandbox`, `Quarantined`) and apply them at the test-method or class level.\n\n| Tier | Marker | Runs | Budget |\n|---|---|---|---|\n| Smoke | `@Smoke` *(existing scenarios re-annotated)* | PR (label-gated, unchanged) | <2 min |\n| Regression — core | `@Regression` | PR (label-gated, new) + nightly | ~15 min |\n| Regression — full | `@RegressionFull` | Nightly only | ~45–60 min |\n| Regression — sandbox | `@BillingSandbox` | Nightly with creds | adds ~10 min |\n| Macrobenchmark | separate module | Nightly | ~15 min |\n\nNew Gradle tasks (marker classes live in `com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.*`; AndroidJUnitRunner's `annotation` / `notAnnotation` arguments need the fully-qualified class name, so the `-P...` examples below are spelled in full for copy-paste fidelity):\n\n- **`regressionCheck`** — PR/core tier. Single `pixel2api33DebugAndroidTest` invocation with `-Pandroid.testInstrumentationRunnerArguments.annotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Regression -Pandroid.testInstrumentationRunnerArguments.notAnnotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Quarantined`. Excludes `RegressionFull` and `BillingSandbox` (neither carries `@Regression`).\n- **`regressionFullCheck`** — Nightly. Aggregator task that depends on three sibling tasks, plus the macrobenchmark module. It does *not* `dependsOn(regressionCheck)`, because that task's `notAnnotation=...Quarantined` filter would otherwise hide quarantined core tests from nightly too (contradicting §1's quarantine policy).\n - Mechanism: because `-Pandroid.testInstrumentationRunnerArguments.*` is build-wide (set on the root `Project` before AGP reads it) and the same GMD task can only execute once per Gradle invocation, the three filter passes cannot be expressed by re-running one task with different `-P` values inside a single build. Instead each pass is its own task. Two viable shapes; Phase 1 will pick one:\n - **(a) `GradleBuild` child invocations** — register three `GradleBuild` tasks under `regressionFullCheck`, each setting `startParameter.projectProperties` for its own runner-argument set and `tasks = [\"pixel2api33DebugAndroidTest\"]` (or the Play device task for sandbox). Each child invocation gets a fresh Gradle build, so `-P` values do not collide.\n - **(b) Variant- or device-scoped tasks** — declare extra GMD device entries (or a custom test-only variant) whose `instrumentationRunnerArguments` are set in `build.gradle.kts` rather than at the CLI, so each generated `*DebugAndroidTest` task carries its own baked-in filter. `regressionFullCheck` then plain-`dependsOn`s those tasks.\n - Logical tiers wired in (under whichever shape is chosen):\n - `regressionFullNightlyCoreCheck` — `pixel2api33DebugAndroidTest` with `annotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Regression` and **no** `notAnnotation`, so flaky `@Regression @Quarantined` tests still execute and report.\n - `regressionFullExtendedCheck` — `pixel2api33DebugAndroidTest` with `annotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.RegressionFull`.\n - `regressionFullSandboxCheck` — runs `@BillingSandbox` against the Play-enabled device path from §5, using a test APK built from a non-debug build type signed with the same upload key as the Play internal track (e.g. a `staging` `testBuildType` distinct from `debug`/`release` and outside the screenshot-build branch in `app/build.gradle.kts:43`). The concrete task is therefore something like `pixel2api33PlayStagingAndroidTest`, *not* `pixel2api33PlayDebugAndroidTest` — a debug-signed APK is the wrong artifact for real Play Billing. Annotation filter: `annotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.BillingSandbox`; skipped when `BILLING_SANDBOX_ACCOUNT` is unset. If §5 picks the external-workflow option instead, this aggregator entry is omitted (the sandbox tier runs in `billing-sandbox.yml`, not under `regressionFullCheck`).\n - None of the three set `notAnnotation`. The `:macrobenchmark` module's GMD-generated benchmark task (e.g. `:macrobenchmark:pixel2api33BenchmarkAndroidTest`, from the dedicated GMD entry registered in `:macrobenchmark` per Phase 6 and the §2 table) is wired as an additional `dependsOn` to keep \"core + full + sandbox + benchmark\" in one entry point. It is deliberately *not* `:macrobenchmark:connectedBenchmarkAndroidTest` — `connected*AndroidTest` targets ad-hoc currently-connected devices that CI doesn't have, so the nightly aggregate could otherwise pass without ever running the benchmark tier. (Separate tiers rather than a comma list because AndroidJUnitRunner's `annotation` argument takes a single class, and the sandbox tier needs a different device target anyway.)\n- **Smoke** — the existing PR-gated path. Today the `pixel2api33` device's `instrumentationRunnerArguments` in `app/build.gradle.kts` only sets `notPackage=com.yorvana.screenshots`, and `.github/workflows/smoke.yml` runs plain `./gradlew pixel2api33Check`. Once regression tests start landing in the same `app/src/androidTest` tree, that filter would sweep them into smoke and blow the <2 min budget. Phase 1 therefore must isolate smoke before any regression tests merge — either (i) add `notAnnotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Regression,com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.RegressionFull,com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.BillingSandbox,com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Quarantined` to the smoke device's `instrumentationRunnerArguments` (keeps the existing `@Smoke` re-annotation as opt-in nice-to-have), or (ii) flip to a positive `annotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Smoke` filter and make `@Smoke` annotation of existing smoke tests a hard prerequisite of Phase 1. Either way, the change lives in `app/build.gradle.kts` (smoke device's runner args) so `smoke.yml`'s `./gradlew pixel2api33Check` invocation stays unchanged.\n\n## 3. Test plan — coverage map\n\nMapped to [specs.md](specs.md) ACs. The principle: every AC has either a JVM test (existing) **or** a regression scenario, with regression earning its place by needing real OS behavior.\n\n### 3.1 Vehicle CRUD (FR-V1..V4)\n\n- **R-V01** — Add vehicle with all optional fields filled, kill process, relaunch → vehicle present with all fields preserved on disk (vault JSON readable).\n- **R-V02** — Duplicate VIN guard: add vehicle with VIN, try to add another with same VIN → blocked with error.\n- **R-V03** — Field length / range validation negative paths: nickname >50 chars, year=1899, year=2101 → save blocked, error visible.\n- **R-V04** — Edit vehicle, rotate device mid-edit → form state preserved (rememberSaveable).\n- **R-V05** — Delete vehicle with 50+ records + 20 attachments → all files removed from vault filesystem (verify via `DocumentFile`).\n- **R-V06** — External vault edit: pre-seed vault with extra vehicle file via DocumentFile, relaunch app → vehicle appears in list (catches cache-staleness bugs).\n- **R-V07** — VIN copy-to-clipboard: trigger the copy action on a vehicle with a VIN, read back via `ClipboardManager.primaryClip` and assert the text matches (real OS clipboard, not a mocked manager).\n\n### 3.2 Records (FR-R1..R4)\n\n- **R-R01** — Add record with all fields, kill app mid-form → on relaunch, no partial record (transactional save).\n- **R-R02** — Odometer/cost boundary validation (0, max, max+1, decimals).\n- **R-R03** — 200-record list: scroll bottom→top, verify no jank (via Macrobenchmark `FrameTimingMetric`).\n- **R-R04** — Delete record → confirm attachment files are gone from disk.\n\n### 3.3 Attachments (FR-A1, FR-A2) — *the big real-OS bucket*\n\n- **R-A01** — Real SAF file picker via UiAutomator: pick a PDF (bundled in `androidTest/assets` and copied into `MediaStore` Downloads by the fixture `TestRule`), save record, kill app, relaunch → attachment opens via system viewer.\n- **R-A02** — Real camera capture via UiAutomator: `MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE` flow, accept camera permission dialog if shown, photo persists as JPG in vault.\n- **R-A03** — Image viewer gestures: pinch zoom (1×→5×), double-tap zoom toggle, pan with bounds (`UiDevice` swipe + pinch).\n- **R-A04** — Non-image attachment → system viewer launches (assert intent fires, doesn't crash on missing handler).\n- **R-A05** — Remove attachment with confirmation, save → file is deleted from disk.\n- **R-A06** — Vault folder change mid-session: change root folder in settings, attachments still resolvable.\n- **R-A07** — Camera permission denial: revoke camera permission via `pm revoke`, trigger capture flow, tap **Deny** on the permission dialog → app surfaces a clear error state and does not crash; granting on retry recovers.\n\n### 3.4 Vault / SAF (FR-D1)\n\n- **R-D01** — Fresh setup: drive real SAF folder picker via UiAutomator, pick a folder, complete setup.\n- **R-D02** — Pre-existing vault: point at a folder with sample data → vehicles + records load.\n- **R-D03** — Vault permission revoked externally (clear persistable URI perms) → app shows recoverable error state, not crash.\n- **R-D04** — Malformed `vehicle.json` in vault → app skips that vehicle and logs, doesn't crash the list.\n- **R-D05** — Migration: pre-seed an old-format vault, verify `MigrationHelper` upgrades it.\n\n### 3.5 Categories (FR-C1, FR-C2)\n\n- **R-C01** — Default categories present on fresh install.\n- **R-C02** — Add custom category → appears in selector across vehicles → persists across app kill.\n- **R-C03** — Delete custom category in use by records → confirm prompt mentions affected record count.\n\n### 3.6 Settings (FR-S1..S3)\n\n- **R-S01** — Toggle odometer unit → existing records re-render with new unit (already in smoke partially; add the \"with records present\" path).\n- **R-S02** — Change vault folder: confirmation flow + data move / start-fresh behavior (per ADR).\n- **R-S03** — Crash reporting opt-in persists across kill + restart (extension of existing `s21`).\n- **R-S04** — Custom currency persistence: set a custom (non-list) currency code via `CustomCurrencyDialog`, kill app, relaunch → code is rendered on existing record cost lines and used as the default for new records (exercises DataStore round-trip for a user-supplied string).\n\n### 3.7 Paywall (FR-P1..P6) — sandbox-dependent\n\n- **R-P01** — Free tier, attempt 2nd vehicle → upgrade dialog (already smoke-covered; mirror with kill+restore to verify dialog state).\n- **R-P02** — Read-only mode: pre-seed 2 vehicles into a fresh vault on free tier → app boots into read-only on every screen.\n- **R-P03** — *Sandbox*: complete real test purchase via Play Billing → premium activates, dialog dismisses.\n- **R-P04** — *Sandbox*: restore purchases on a fresh install with same Google account.\n- **R-P05** — Offline premium: disable network mid-session, verify cached premium status holds.\n\n### 3.8 Lifecycle & robustness (no specific AC, but bug-rich)\n\n- **R-L01** — Rotate device on every screen (parametrized) → no crashes, state preserved.\n- **R-L02** — Process death on every screen → relaunch returns to same screen.\n- **R-L03** — Low-memory simulation (`am send-trim-memory`) → no crash.\n- **R-L04** — Back-press exhaustively from deep screens.\n- **R-L05** — Deep-link / intent re-entry while on a deep screen.\n- **R-L06** — Disk full on save: simulate storage exhaustion (fill vault partition or use `sm set-virtual-disk`/quota), attempt to save a record → app surfaces a clear error, no partial/corrupted JSON left in the vault, retry after freeing space succeeds.\n- **R-L07** — Concurrent external edit mid-session: while the app is foregrounded on a list/detail screen, mutate the underlying `vehicle.json` or a `records/{uuid}.json` via `DocumentFile` from the test process → UI reflects the change without crash (refresh on resume / observer fires).\n\n### 3.9 NFRs (NFR-1, NFR-6) — Macrobenchmark module\n\n- **M-01** — Cold start (`StartupTimingMetric`): assert P50 ≤ 2000ms.\n- **M-02** — Vehicle list scroll FPS with 20 vehicles (`FrameTimingMetric`).\n- **M-03** — Record list scroll FPS with 200 records.\n- **M-04** — Navigation transition duration garage→detail→record (`TraceSectionMetric` around nav).\n\n## 4. Phased implementation\n\n### Phase 1 — Infrastructure (1–2 days)\n\n- Add custom marker annotations (`@Smoke`, `@Regression`, `@RegressionFull`, `@BillingSandbox`, `@Quarantined`) under `testsupport/tiers/`; wire `regressionCheck` and `regressionFullCheck` Gradle tasks per §2 — `regressionCheck` passes `-Pandroid.testInstrumentationRunnerArguments.annotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Regression` *and* `-Pandroid.testInstrumentationRunnerArguments.notAnnotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Quarantined` to the GMD task; `regressionFullCheck` aggregates three sibling tasks (`regressionFullNightlyCoreCheck`, `regressionFullExtendedCheck`, `regressionFullSandboxCheck`) — each carrying its own runner args via the §2 mechanism (`GradleBuild` child invocation or variant/device-scoped task) — none of which set `notAnnotation`, so quarantined tests run and report.\n- **Isolate the existing smoke task from regression tests before any `@Regression*` test merges**, per the §2 \"Smoke\" bullet. Concretely, update the `pixel2api33` device entry in `app/build.gradle.kts` so its `instrumentationRunnerArguments` either (i) adds `notAnnotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Regression,com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.RegressionFull,com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.BillingSandbox,com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Quarantined` alongside the existing `notPackage=com.yorvana.screenshots`, or (ii) switches to a positive `annotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Smoke` filter with `@Smoke` applied to every existing smoke test as a hard Phase 1 prerequisite. `.github/workflows/smoke.yml` keeps invoking `./gradlew pixel2api33Check` unchanged.\n- Add `regression/` package under `androidTest/` with subpackages (`vehicles/`, `records/`, `attachments/`, `system/`, `lifecycle/`, `billing/`, `paywall/`).\n- Add UiAutomator helpers in `testsupport/`: `SystemPicker.pickFile()`, `SystemPicker.pickFolder()`, `Camera.captureAndAccept()`, `Permissions.acceptIfShown()`.\n- Bundle fixtures (PDFs / images / large-vault snapshots) in `app/src/androidTest/assets/` and add a `@Before` / `TestRule` helper that copies them to the device-side location each scenario needs (Downloads via `MediaStore` for picker-visible files, app cache for app-internal reads). This matches the smoke plan's recommendation — self-contained, no `adb push` step, works reliably under GMD.\n- Add nightly GitHub Actions workflow `regression.yml` (separate from `smoke.yml`), label-gated for PRs.\n\n### Phase 2 — Vehicle + Record + Categories + Settings regression (3–4 days)\n\n- Write R-V01..07, R-R01..04, R-C01..03, R-S01..04. Pure UI-flow scenarios; no new system integration needed beyond what smoke already does.\n- These have the best bug-catch-per-engineering-hour ratio and surface a lot of edge cases (validation, boundaries, vault round-trip) that aren't currently tested on real OS.\n\n### Phase 3 — Real SAF + file/camera (3–5 days)\n\n- Build UiAutomator helpers; write R-D01..05, R-A01..07.\n- Expect flakes — pin documents UI package, build retry helper, screenshot-on-failure (extend GMD `additional-test-output` already wired up).\n\n### Phase 4 — Lifecycle/process death (2 days)\n\n- R-L01..07. Parametrize rotation / kill across the screen list; storage-exhaustion and concurrent-edit scenarios reuse the UiAutomator/`DocumentFile` helpers from Phase 3.\n\n### Phase 5 — Billing sandbox (2–3 days, separable) — see [§5](#5-billing-sandbox-device-path) for the device path\n\n- Create license tester accounts on Play Console; set up an internal test track signed build.\n- Add a dedicated non-debug build type (e.g. `staging`) signed with the same upload key as the Play internal track. Do *not* reuse the default `debug` build type — instrumentation defaults to `testBuildType = \"debug\"` per `app/build.gradle.kts:68`, which produces a debug-signed APK Play won't recognise as the internal-track artifact, so a debug-signed sandbox run can fail or test the wrong environment. Arrange `testBuildType` (per-device or via a CI switch) to be the new `staging` type when the sandbox device task runs.\n- Define the Play-enabled device target (see §5) — either a new GMD entry with `systemImageSource = \"google_apis_playstore\"` (the AGP-documented source that actually ships the Play Store, which Billing requires) wired to the `staging` build type so the generated task is e.g. `pixel2api33PlayStagingAndroidTest`, or a manual/CI device flow outside GMD that builds and pushes an internal-track signed APK from the same `staging` build type.\n- R-P03, R-P04. Skip when `BILLING_SANDBOX_ACCOUNT` env is not set.\n\n### Phase 6 — Macrobenchmark module (2 days)\n\n- New `:macrobenchmark` module, M-01..04. Baseline thresholds calibrated over 5 runs; alert on >20% regression.\n- Register a dedicated GMD entry inside `:macrobenchmark` (a Pixel 2 API 33 device matching the app module's GMD shape) so AGP generates `:macrobenchmark:pixel2api33BenchmarkAndroidTest`, and wire that exact task into `regressionFullCheck`'s `dependsOn` per §2. Do not depend on `:macrobenchmark:connectedBenchmarkAndroidTest`, which targets ad-hoc connected devices that CI doesn't have. Document in the module README that swiftshader/angle GMD numbers are advisory regression signal only; authoritative perf measurements still require a physical device run outside this nightly aggregate.\n\n### Phase 7 — Hardening & nightly bake (ongoing)\n\n- Quarantine annotation + dashboard. Track flake rate. Promote nightly-stable tests into core / PR tier as they earn it.\n\n## 5. Billing sandbox device path\n\nThe existing GMD pool in `app/build.gradle.kts` is AOSP-only (`systemImageSource = \"aosp\"` on every entry). Real Google Play Billing flows require a device with Google Play Services and the Play Store app present, which AOSP images do not ship. The plan therefore needs an explicit, separate device path for `@BillingSandbox` tests — *not* shoehorned into the AOSP `pixel2api33` device. Two acceptable options:\n\n1. **Play-enabled GMD entry with a signed non-debug test build type.** Add a new managed device, e.g. `pixel2api33Play`, with `systemImageSource = \"google_apis_playstore\"` — this is AGP's documented source for a Play Store image, which Billing requires. (`\"google\"` / `\"google_apis\"` ship Google APIs but no Play Store, so they cannot drive real Billing purchase flows.) Add a new build type alongside the existing `debug`/`release` — e.g. `staging` — signed with the same upload key as the Play internal track, and arrange instrumentation to use it for this device only. The current build sets a global `testBuildType = testVariant` in `app/build.gradle.kts:68` (with `testVariant` resolved at line 43 to `debug` outside the screenshot-build branch), so this needs either a per-device override or a top-level switch when the sandbox device is selected; either way, the resulting task name carries the build type (e.g. `pixel2api33PlayStagingAndroidTest`), and `regressionFullSandboxCheck` targets that task — *not* `pixel2api33PlayDebugAndroidTest`, because a debug-signed APK is not what Play has on the internal track and may fail real Billing purchase/restore. Caveats: Play Store images on GMD are interactive (require Google account sign-in on first boot) and historically harder to drive headlessly; this needs a one-time human setup of the license-tester account on the snapshot, plus the signing key has to be available to the runner that builds the staging APK.\n2. **Manual / external device path (recommended when key management on the GMD runner is impractical).** Keep real billing verification outside GMD entirely — run `@BillingSandbox` tests on a real Play-enabled device or a Firebase Test Lab \"physical\" device, triggered by a separate workflow (`billing-sandbox.yml`) that nightly-builds an internal-track signed APK from a dedicated staging/release build type (so Play recognises the artifact) and runs the sandbox tier against a Play-enabled target. `regressionFullCheck` in this option does *not* dispatch the sandbox invocation locally and instead reports \"sandbox runs in the dedicated billing workflow.\" This option avoids putting the upload key on the GMD runner and skips the headless Play Store sign-in problem from Option 1.\n\nPhase 5 must pick one of these before any `@BillingSandbox` tests are written. Local developer runs default to skipping the tier (`BILLING_SANDBOX_ACCOUNT` unset) regardless of the option chosen.\n"}} {"timestamp":"2026-05-21T14:25:04.212Z","type":"response_item","payload":{"type":"function_call_output","call_id":"call_VfyffTHo6bGLSJAadQK5x0t8","output":"Chunk ID: 223aed\nWall time: 0.3347 seconds\nProcess exited with code 0\nOriginal token count: 2078\nOutput:\nimport org.gradle.api.Task\nimport org.gradle.api.file.RelativePath\nimport org.gradle.api.tasks.TaskProvider\nimport org.gradle.testing.jacoco.plugins.JacocoTaskExtension\nimport org.gradle.testing.jacoco.tasks.JacocoReport\nimport java.io.FileInputStream\nimport java.util.Properties\n\nplugins {\n alias(libs.plugins.android.application)\n alias(libs.plugins.kotlin.serialization)\n alias(libs.plugins.compose.compiler)\n alias(libs.plugins.roborazzi)\n alias(libs.plugins.ktlint)\n alias(libs.plugins.detekt)\n jacoco\n}\n\njacoco {\n toolVersion = \"0.8.11\"\n}\n\nval keystorePropertiesFile = rootProject.file(\"app/keystore.properties\")\nval keystoreProperties = Properties()\nif (keystorePropertiesFile.exists()) {\n keystoreProperties.load(FileInputStream(keystorePropertiesFile))\n}\n\nval localPropertiesFile = rootProject.file(\"local.properties\")\nval localProperties = Properties()\nif (localPropertiesFile.exists()) {\n localProperties.load(FileInputStream(localPropertiesFile))\n}\n\nval isCoverageEnabled =\n project.hasProperty(\"coverage\") ||\n gradle.startParameter.taskNames.any {\n it.contains(\"verifyWithCoverage\", ignoreCase = true) ||\n it.contains(\"generateGmdCoverage\", ignoreCase = true)\n }\n\nval isScreenshotBuild = project.hasProperty(\"screenshotBuild\")\nval testVariant = if (isScreenshotBuild) \"release\" else \"debug\"\nval testVariantCap = testVariant.replaceFirstChar { it.uppercase() }\n\n// Configuration for Play Store screenshot generation.\nval screenshotTestPackage = \"com.yorvana.screenshots\"\nval screenshotDeviceOutputDir = \"/sdcard/test-outputs/screenshots\"\nval smokeDeviceOutputDir = \"/sdcard/test-outputs/smoke\"\n\nandroid {\n namespace = \"com.yorvana\"\n compileSdk = 36\n\n defaultConfig {\n applicationId = \"com.yorvana\"\n minSdk = 26\n targetSdk = 36\n versionCode = 1\n versionName = \"1.0.0\"\n\n testInstrumentationRunner = \"androidx.test.runner.AndroidJUnitRunner\"\n vectorDrawables {\n useSupportLibrary = true\n }\n }\n\n testBuildType = testVariant\n\n signingConfigs {\n create(\"release\") {\n storeFile = rootProject.file(\"app/${keystoreProperties[\"storeFile\"] ?: System.getenv(\"KEYSTORE_FILE\") ?: \"\"}\")\n storePassword = (keystoreProperties[\"storePassword\"] ?: System.getenv(\"KEYSTORE_PASSWORD\") ?: \"\").toString()\n keyAlias = (keystoreProperties[\"keyAlias\"] ?: System.getenv(\"KEY_ALIAS\") ?: \"\").toString()\n keyPassword = (keystoreProperties[\"keyPassword\"] ?: System.getenv(\"KEY_PASSWORD\") ?: \"\").toString()\n }\n }\n\n buildTypes {\n debug {\n enableAndroidTestCoverage = isCoverageEnabled\n val dsnDebug =\n (localProperties.getProperty(\"sentry.dsn.debug\") ?: \"\")\n .replace(\"\\\\\", \"\\\\\\\\\")\n .replace(\"\\\"\", \"\\\\\\\"\")\n buildConfigField(\"String\", \"SENTRY_DSN\", \"\\\"$dsnDebug\\\"\")\n }\n release {\n // Only attach the release signing config when a keystore is actually\n // configured. Smoke Test Suite (GMD)\n./TESTING_SETUP.md:192:The Smoke Test suite (`app/src/androidTest/java/com/yorvana/SmokeTest.kt`) performs end-to-end verification of critical happy-path journeys on a real Android OS using Gradle Managed Devices (GMD).\n./TESTING_SETUP.md:195:Smoke tests catch issues that only surface on a real Android environment:\n./TESTING_SETUP.md:208:### Running Smoke Tests\n./TESTING_SETUP.md:231:The `Baseline Reminder` workflow posts a sticky PR comment on any PR that touches `app/src/main/**`, prompting you to refresh the baseline if the changes affect smoke coverage. Note that the `Smoke` workflow itself is path-filtered to UI changes (`app/src/main/**/ui/**`) — non-UI production changes won't trigger smoke, but the reminder will still fire so coverage stays current.\n./TESTING_SETUP.md:234:Smoke test results are persisted as a static coverage baseline in `app/coverage-baselines/gmd_smoke.ec`. This baseline is combined with JVM unit test data during report generation:\n./TESTING_SETUP.md:237:# Generate combined report (JVM tests + Smoke test baseline)\n./TESTING_SETUP.md:259:**Smoke tests fail with \"Activity opened at unexpected destination\"**\n./docs/dependabot-workflow.md:36:#### D. Run Smoke Tests (with GPU Acceleration)\n./docs/dependabot-workflow.md:69:- **GPU Acceleration:** Smoke tests are significantly faster with `-Pandroid.testoptions.manageddevices.emulator.gpu=host`.\n./docs/plan-regression-tests.md:13:- **Flake budget: zero on PR-gated tier, ≤1% on nightly** — quarantine, don't ignore. Flaky tests get a `@Quarantined` marker annotation; PR-gated and core regression tasks pass `notAnnotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Quarantined` so these tests are excluded from gating, while the nightly `regressionFullCheck` task does *not* set `notAnnotation` so they still execute and report.\n./docs/plan-regression-tests.md:30:The project is on JUnit 4 with `AndroidJUnitRunner` (see `app/build.gradle.kts`), which does **not** support a `tag` filter — it filters via `annotation` / `notAnnotation` / `package` / `class` arguments. Define a small set of runtime-retained marker annotations in `app/src/androidTest/.../testsupport/tiers/` (`Smoke`, `Regression`, `RegressionFull`, `BillingSandbox`, `Quarantined`) and apply them at the test-method or class level.\n./docs/plan-regression-tests.md:34:| Smoke | `@Smoke` *(existing scenarios re-annotated)* | PR (label-gated, unchanged) | <2 min |\n./docs/plan-regression-tests.md:40:New Gradle tasks (marker classes live in `com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.*`; AndroidJUnitRunner's `annotation` / `notAnnotation` arguments need the fully-qualified class name, so the `-P...` examples below are spelled in full for copy-paste fidelity):\n./docs/plan-regression-tests.md:42:- **`regressionCheck`** — PR/core tier. Single `pixel2api33DebugAndroidTest` invocation with `-Pandroid.testInstrumentationRunnerArguments.annotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Regression -Pandroid.testInstrumentationRunnerArguments.notAnnotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Quarantined`. Excludes `RegressionFull` and `BillingSandbox` (neither carries `@Regression`).\n./docs/plan-regression-tests.md:43:- **`regressionFullCheck`** — Nightly. Aggregator task that depends on three sibling tasks, plus the macrobenchmark module. It does *not* `dependsOn(regressionCheck)`, because that task's `notAnnotation=...Quarantined` filter would otherwise hide quarantined core tests from nightly too (contradicting §1's quarantine policy).\n./docs/plan-regression-tests.md:45: - **(a) `GradleBuild` child invocations** — register three `GradleBuild` tasks under `regressionFullCheck`, each setting `startParameter.projectProperties` for its own runner-argument set and `tasks = [\"pixel2api33DebugAndroidTest\"]` (or the Play device task for sandbox). Each child invocation gets a fresh Gradle build, so `-P` values do not collide.\n./docs/plan-regression-tests.md:46: - **(b) Variant- or device-scoped tasks** — declare extra GMD device entries (or a custom test-only variant) whose `instrumentationRunnerArguments` are set in `build.gradle.kts` rather than at the CLI, so each generated `*DebugAndroidTest` task carries its own baked-in filter. `regressionFullCheck` then plain-`dependsOn`s those tasks.\n./docs/plan-regression-tests.md:48: - `regressionFullNightlyCoreCheck` — `pixel2api33DebugAndroidTest` with `annotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Regression` and **no** `notAnnotation`, so flaky `@Regression @Quarantined` tests still execute and report.\n./docs/plan-regression-tests.md:51: - None of the three set `notAnnotation`. (Separate tiers rather than a comma list because AndroidJUnitRunner's `annotation` argument takes a single class, and the sandbox tier needs a different device target anyway.)\n./docs/plan-regression-tests.md:52:- **Smoke** — the existing PR-gated path. Either way, the change lives in `app/build.gradle.kts` (smoke device's runner args) so `smoke.yml`'s `./gradlew pixel2api33Check` invocation stays unchanged.\n./docs/plan-regression-tests.md:135:- Add custom marker annotations (`@Smoke`, `@Regression`, `@RegressionFull`, `@BillingSandbox`, `@Quarantined`) under `testsupport/tiers/`; wire `regressionCheck` and `regressionFullCheck` Gradle tasks per §2 — `regressionCheck` passes `-Pandroid.testInstrumentationRunnerArguments.annotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Regression` *and* `-Pandroid.testInstrumentationRunnerArguments.notAnnotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Quarantined` to the GMD task; `regressionFullCheck` aggregates three sibling tasks (`regressionFullNightlyCoreCheck`, `regressionFullExtendedCheck`, `regressionFullSandboxCheck`) — each carrying its own runner args via the §2 mechanism (`GradleBuild` child invocation or variant/device-scoped task) — none of which set `notAnnotation`, so quarantined tests run and report.\n./docs/plan-regression-tests.md:136:- **Isolate the existing smoke task from regression tests before any `@Regression*` test merges**, per the §2 \"Smoke\" bullet. Concretely, update the `pixel2api33` device entry in `app/build.gradle.kts` so its `instrumentationRunnerArguments` either (i) adds `notAnnotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Regression,com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.RegressionFull,com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.BillingSandbox,com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Quarantined` alongside the existing `notPackage=com.yorvana.screenshots`, or (ii) switches to a positive `annotation=com.yorvana.testsupport.tiers.Smoke` filter with `@Smoke` applied to every existing smoke test as a hard Phase 1 prerequisite. `.github/workflows/smoke.yml` keeps invoking `./gradlew pixel2api33Check` unchanged.\n./docs/plan-smoke-tests.md:1:# GMD Smoke Test Scenarios (Phase 3)\n./docs/plan-smoke-tests.md:7:Smoke tests are **not** intended to replace integration tests. They exist to catch issues that only surface on a real Android environment: actual Activity lifecycle, real filesystem access via SAF, real Compose rendering pipeline, and cross-screen navigation with real back-stack behavior.\n./docs/plan-smoke-tests.md:15:- **Test file:** `app/src/androidTest/java/com/yorvana/SmokeTest.kt` — single canonical entry point (replaces the instrumented `app/src/androidTest/java/com/yorvana/MainActivityTest.kt`)\n./docs/plan-smoke-tests.md:424:**Goal:** Set up the `SmokeTest.kt` file with all necessary test infrastructure before writing scenario logic.\n./docs/plan-smoke-tests.md:426:1. **Rename entry point:** Rename `MainActivityTest.kt` to `SmokeTest.kt` (or create `SmokeTest.kt` and delete `MainActivityTest.kt`). Update the class name to `SmokeTest`. Test Organization (Naming Convention)\n\nTo maintain a clear distinction between fast JVM tests and Android-dependent tests, we follow these naming rules:\n\n- **`*Test.kt`**: Unit Tests or Local UI Tests. Run on the local JVM (extremely fast). UI tests use **Robolectric** to simulate the Android environment.\n- **`*IT.kt`**: Local Integration Tests. Use **Robolectric** to simulate Android and test interactions between multiple components (e.g., Repositories + Storage). These are found in `src/test/java`.\n- **`app/src/androidTest/...`**: Instrumented Integration Tests. Run on a **real Android OS** (Emulator or Device). Used for high-fidelity verification of features that depend heavily on actual OS behavior.\n- **`*ScreenshotTest.kt`**: Visual regression tests using Roborazzi running on the JVM (Robolectric).\n\nNote: Historically, some `*IT.kt` files were located in `src/androidTest`, but we are migrating them to `src/test` to leverage Robolectric for faster feedback loops. New integration tests should be added to `src/test`.\n\n## 2. Instrumented Tests via Gradle Managed Devices (GMD)\n\nWe use GMD to automate emulator management. This avoids the need to manually create AVDs.\n\n### Running Tests\n\n```bash\n# Clean existing snapshots/devices (recommended after env changes or GPU mode changes)\n./gradlew cleanManagedDevices\n\n# Run the instrumented tests on the managed Pixel 2 (API 33)\n./gradlew pixel2api33Check\n```\n\n### Configuration Details\n- **Smoke device**: Pixel 2, API Level 33.\n- **Store screenshot devices**: Pixel 6, Nexus 7, and Pixel Tablet, API Level 34.\n- **Image**: `aosp`.\n- **Location**: Defined in `app/build.gradle.kts` under `testOptions.managedDevices`.\n- **GPU mode**: Set via `android.testoptions.manageddevices.emulator.gpu` in `gradle.properties` (see below).\n\n---\n\n## 3. GPU Rendering Modes\n\nThe emulator GPU mode controls how the Android guest renders graphics. Choosing the right mode depends on your environment.\n\n### `host` — Hardware acceleration (host GPU passthrough)\n\nThe emulator uses the host machine's physical GPU via Vulkan/gfxstream.\n\n| | |\n|---|---|\n| **Pros** | Fastest; required for screenshot tests to produce accurate pixel output |\n| **Cons** | Requires KVM + GPU passthrough; can hang the host if the GPU driver conflicts |\n\n**Works on:**\n- Bare metal Linux with KVM and a compatible GPU driver\n- Distrobox with KVM + GPU passthrough configured\n\n**Does NOT work reliably on:**\n- Distrobox without GPU passthrough\n- GitHub Actions (Ubuntu runners have no physical GPU)\n\n### `swiftshader_indirect` — Software rendering (Google SwiftShader)\n\nThe emulator uses Google's SwiftShader Vulkan ICD bundled with the Android SDK. No host GPU involved.\n\n| | |\n|---|---|\n| **Pros** | No GPU required; used by CI |\n| **Cons** | Crashes (SIGSEGV in QEMU) on Linux kernel ≥ 6.17 due to a conflict in the gfxstream `GLAsyncSwap` code path |\n\n**Works on:**\n- GitHub Actions (`ubuntu-latest` with KVM, kernel < 6.17)\n- Bare metal Linux with kernel < 6.17\n\n**Does NOT work on:**\n- Linux kernel ≥ 6.17 (e.g. Fedora 43 / kernel 6.17): QEMU segfaults during cold boot\n\n### `angle_indirect` — Software rendering (ANGLE + lavapipe/llvmpipe)\n\nThe emulator treats this as an invalid option and falls back to `auto`, which selects Mesa's lavapipe (llvmpipe, LLVM-JIT software rasterizer) via ANGLE. Crucially, lavapipe disables `GLAsyncSwap`, which avoids the SIGSEGV present in the SwiftShader path.\n\n| | |\n|---|---|\n| **Pros** | Works on kernel ≥ 6.17; no GPU required; does not hang the host |\n| **Cons** | Slower than `host`; the fallback to lavapipe is an implementation detail of the emulator, not an officially documented mode |\n\n**Works on:**\n- Distrobox on Linux kernel ≥ 6.17 (current local setup)\n- Any Linux without a GPU\n\n---\n\n## 4. Current Configuration\n\n| Environment | `gradle.properties` setting | Effective renderer | Notes |\n|---|---|---|---|\n| **Local (Distrobox, kernel 6.17+)** | `angle_indirect` | lavapipe (llvmpipe via ANGLE) | Set in `gradle.properties` |\n| **CI (GitHub Actions, ubuntu-latest)** | `swiftshader_indirect` | SwiftShader | Overridden at runtime via `-Pandroid.testoptions.manageddevices.emulator.gpu=swiftshader_indirect` |\n| **Bare metal with GPU** | `host` | Host GPU (NVIDIA etc.) | Override `gradle.properties` locally |\n\nTo run locally with hardware acceleration (e.g. on bare metal):\n```bash\n./gradlew cleanManagedDevices\n./gradlew pixel2api33Check -Pandroid.testoptions.manageddevices.emulator.gpu=host\n```\n\n---\n\n## 5. Continuous Integration (CI)\n\nCI is configured in `.github/workflows/ci.yml`. Instrumented tests run on `ubuntu-latest` with KVM enabled:\n\n```yaml\n- name: Enable KVM permissions\n run: sudo chmod 666 /dev/kvm\n\n- name: Run All Tests & Generate Combined Coverage\n run: ./gradlew verifyWithCoverage -Pandroid.testoptions.manageddevices.emulator.gpu=swiftshader_indirect -Proborazzi.test.verify=true -Pcoverage --info\n```\n\nCI uses `swiftshader_indirect` for software rendering because GitHub-hosted runners lack a physical GPU. Local executions will default to the `host` GPU (specified in `gradle.properties`) for maximum performance, but can be overridden using the same `-P` flag if hardware acceleration is unavailable.\n\n## 9. Smoke Test Suite (GMD)\n\nThe Smoke Test suite (`app/src/androidTest/java/com/yorvana/SmokeTest.kt`) performs end-to-end verification of critical happy-path journeys on a real Android OS using Gradle Managed Devices (GMD).\n\n### Purpose\nSmoke tests catch issues that only surface on a real Android environment:\n- Actual Activity lifecycle behavior, plus Compose navigation, state restoration, and back-stack handling.\n- Real file-based vault I/O on device/emulator storage, plus attachment access through Android `ContentResolver` / `MediaStore` integration.\n- System-level intent flows (camera capture and file-picker interactions).\n- Cross-screen navigation and back-stack integrity.\n\n### Scenarios Covered\nThe suite covers 17 scenarios (S01–S17), including:\n- **Core Happy Path**: First launch, vault configuration, adding/viewing vehicles and records.\n- **Attachments**: Adding via file picker, viewing in the gallery, removing, and taking photos.\n- **Settings & Navigation**: Navigating to Settings/Categories and verifying back-stack behavior.\n- **Mutations**: Editing and deleting vehicles and records with confirmation guards.\n\n### Running Smoke Tests\n\n```bash\n# Run just the debug androidTest task on the device (fastest for local verification)\n./gradlew pixel2api33DebugAndroidTest\n\n# Run the broader device check task\n./gradlew pixel2api33Check\n\n# Run tests and refresh the coverage baseline (gmd_smoke.ec)\n./gradlew generateGmdCoverage\n```\n\n### Refreshing the coverage baseline\n\nWhen material changes land in `app/src/main` (UI flows, storage logic, ViewModels exercised by smoke tests), regenerate and commit the baseline:\n\n```bash\n./gradlew generateGmdCoverage\ngit add app/coverage-baselines/gmd_smoke.ec\ngit commit -m \"chore: refresh smoke coverage baseline\"\n```\n\n"}} {"timestamp":"2026-05-21T14:25:43.594Z","type":"event_msg","payload":{"type":"token_count","info":{"total_token_usage":{"input_tokens":286087,"cached_input_tokens":211456,"output_tokens":1840,"reasoning_output_tokens":376,"total_tokens":287927},"last_token_usage":{"input_tokens":46030,"cached_input_tokens":38784,"output_tokens":89,"reasoning_output_tokens":16,"total_tokens":46119},"model_context_window":258400},"rate_limits":{"limit_id":"codex","limit_name":null,"primary":{"used_percent":70.0,"window_minutes":300,"resets_at":1779378250},"secondary":{"used_percent":27.0,"window_minutes":10080,"resets_at":1779866186},"credits":null,"plan_type":"plus","rate_limit_reached_type":null}}} {"timestamp":"2026-05-21T14:25:47.862Z","type":"response_item","payload":{"type":"message","role":"user","content":[{"type":"input_text","text":"\nThe user interrupted the previous turn on purpose.
